During the Q&A portion, the speakers misspoke regarding the code requirements for replacing fusible links. To clarify, NFPA 80 does not specifically require annual replacement of links unless they are damaged or show signs of wear. Replacing them annually is considered a best practice, but not a code requirement.

They also want to clarify that the 4-inch space mentioned when discussing the installation of fusible links was intended to refer to the “dead zone” — an area where links should not be mounted.
