2024 ida accomplishments
Membership
IDA recently welcomed 150 new dealer members to the association. Along with this growth a new member benefit has been introduced – ClickSafety Online Training and benchmarking reporting. This new benefit offers courses that cover training on various industry hazards providing members with valuable knowledge and resources. With the flexibility of online courses available 24/7 members can conveniently pace their training to fit their schedule and access courses from anywhere.
Board/Committee Participation
IDA recently brought on board 12 new members to join various committees as well as welcomed 2 new individuals to the board. In addition they drafted a new set of Bylaws and created a Volunteer Leadership Guide specifically designed for new members of the board and committees.
Education & Training
IDA held it’s monthly “Dealers Helping Dealers” webinars which were well-received with registration numbers ranging from 37 to 94 participants and attendance numbers ranging from 28 to 85 individuals. Additionally the Toolbox Talks were updated and made available on the website for members to access.
Top 100 Door Dealers
The third annual IDA Top 100 Door Dealers was published in the IDA Magazine and recognizes dealers that have had substantial success in their business sales. The number of participating dealers continues to grow, and a valuable benchmarking report will be provided to companies that have participated this year.
IDA 2024 Awards
Here are the awards given out in 2024
- Distinguished Service Award – Randy Diehl, Raynor Garage Doors an individual award given to a dealer or industry member for outstanding service to the industry.
- Industry Member Service -Miller Edge, honors an industry member of the association for its continued excellence in business, for significant contribution to the International Door Association, for overall industry and product innovations and for displaying exceptional traits of honesty, integrity and quality.
- Joe A. Caputo Dealer of the Year Right Way Garage Doors, Jake Wold, awarded to an individual who demonstrates high integrity, be respected by peers, be quality oriented, display community and industry involvement and serve as a model door dealer company.
- Jerry R. Reynolds Volunteer Leadership Award Jim McGinley, awarded to persons who have demonstrated dedicated service to the International Door Association as a volunteer.
- Presidential Service Award to Tim Castello, Byron Burland, Brenton Cheney, and Dave Plowman, members who has displayed an attitude of teamwork, and has been of exceptional assistance to the IDA president during his term of duty.
- Heimar “Ed” Niit Heritage Award Matt McAlear individual who have contributed to the well-being and heritage of the door and access systems industry.
- Humanitarian Award Raynor Hawaii Overhead Doors an individual or company that has contributed significantly to a humanitarian need.
- Lifetime Honorary Member Award Brian Besser IDA members who have devoted a lifetime career in the door and access systems industry and who were active members upon their retirement.
- Charity Award Cedar City Children’s Musical Theatre presented to a non-profit charitable organization.
- Technician of Year Matthew Gray, Cedar Park Overhead Doors; Paul Hoofard, The Door Company; Timothy Witcher, Door Doctor of SI, Inc. recognized technicians that excelled in service.
- IDEA Daniel R. Apple Award Daniel Dombkowski awarded by the Institute of Door Education and Accreditation (IDEA) and represents the spirit of the IDEA mission which is to promote professionalism within the door and access systems industry.
IDA Scholarship
The IDA Scholarship Foundation saw over 80 scholarship application submissions and awarded $47,000 worth of scholarships.
Events
- IDAExpo+ – This year IDA had the highest number of attendees with 4,117 registrants and 152 booths
- Fall EduCon – IDA sold out exhibit hall with 44 booths
Garage Door Safety Month & SuperTech Day
IDA continued promotion of Garage Door Safety Month to stress the importance of Garage Door safety, and this year added Consumer Awareness Tools to assist with scams. Also continued with SuperTech Day which recognizes the value of the technician workforce and celebrates the tireless work that they do.
