In this special centennial address, Tom Wadsworth shares new revelations about the invention of the upward-acting sectional garage door in 1921, the major challenges involved in creating and marketing the product, and the personal struggles of the pioneers of our industry.

In his career, Tom Wadsworth has gained notoriety as a pulpit minister, a radio anchorman, and an award-winning journalist who has published hundreds of impactful stories about finding success in the garage door business. As a powerful speaker who is now completing his Ph.D., he has inspired garage door audiences throughout the United States and overseas.
Hailing from a garage door family, Tom and his two brothers each invested 30+ years in our industry, and their father was a garage door engineer and executive from 1948 to 1990. In 2019, Tom was the recipient of the IDA Distinguished Service Award.
