Garage door scams are occurring with greater frequency across the United States and Canada. IDA has developed resources to help educate garage door companies and consumers on the types of scams, how to avoid being scammed, and what to do if your company is a victim.
Note: IDA has no enforcement authority over companies engaging in false, misleading, fraudulent, or criminal activity — instances of scams must be dealt with individually.

If your business has been scammed, take action
IDA is working to provide resources to members and consumers on how to avoid scams — and recommends the following if a scam has occurred:

False or misleading ads: report the ad to Google. Instructions for reporting fraudulent ads here.

Business fraud, such as impersonating another business: report the incident to the Better Business Bureau.

Criminal activity (such as fraud): contact your local police department or local division of the FBI.
